Payments settings¶
Status: In progress | Last reviewed: 2026-09-10
This screen decides whether agents in your tenant may take payments, which provider they charge, and the limits none of them may exceed. Each agent chooses what it accepts and how it captures it (Taking payments); this page sets what those choices resolve against. Until a tenant admin turns it on here, no agent in the tenant can take a payment.
You need the tenant Admin role. Settings → Tenant Settings is visible only to tenant admins and platform admins.
Card details never reach this screen, any agent, or any AI model. They go from the caller's keypad or the secure form straight to an isolated payment service that hands back only a token and the last four digits.
Before you start¶
Add your payment provider under Settings → Integrations → Stripe, with its secret key. The keys stay on the integration and are read only by the isolated payment service.
Turn it on¶
- Open Settings → Tenant Settings → Payments.
- Turn on Allow agents to take payments.
- Choose the Payment provider and set the limits below.
- Select Save settings.
Changes apply within about a minute — no restart. A payment already in progress finishes under the settings it started with.
The settings¶
Payment provider — which provider an agent charges when it does not name one itself. Each agent chooses its own requires every agent to select one, which publishing then enforces per agent.
What callers may pay with
- Card — credit and debit cards, captured over the phone keypad or an on-screen form.
- Bank account (ACH) — direct bank debit. It settles over days rather than instantly, so a failure can arrive long after the call ends. Enable it only if your operation can handle that.
An agent may offer fewer of these, never more.
Currencies — three-letter codes, comma separated, for example USD, GBP. Leave empty to accept whatever your provider account allows.
Largest single payment (cents) and Largest single refund (cents) — in the smallest unit of the currency, so 50000 is $500.00. Leave empty for no limit here. An agent may set a lower limit; the lower of the two applies. Refunds are additionally capped by the original payment, always.
Secure payment page address — where the on-screen card form is served from. Must be https. Leave empty to use the platform default. Set your own only if your organization serves that page from its own payment-scoped hostname.
Turning it off¶
Switch off Allow agents to take payments and save. All new payments in the tenant stop immediately. Agent settings are left untouched, so turning it back on restores them exactly. A payment already in progress finishes.
Troubleshooting¶
- "No payment provider is set up yet" — add a Stripe integration under Settings → Integrations, then choose it here.
- "There is no secure payment page configured" — set the address above, or ask your platform administrator to configure the platform default.
- An agent reports payments are not configured — the toggle here is off, the settings were never saved, or the isolated payment service is not reachable from this environment. Nothing was charged.
- An agent takes payments on the keypad but not on screen — the on-screen form is still in development. See What works today.
- Saving is rejected over a currency — codes must be exactly three letters, for example
USD, notUS Dollar. - An agent's form warns that a payment method is not allowed — the agent offers something this page does not. Either allow it here or remove it from the agent.
