Testing workflow inputs visually¶
Status: Current | Last reviewed: 2026-10-13
Open the workflow Preview and use Visual to enter test values. Declared inputs appear automatically. Local workflow variables are set by the workflow, so they do not appear as external inputs here.
- Text uses a text field; numbers use numeric fields; Boolean values offer True or False.
- Objects show their declared fields. Use Add field for additional or undeclared properties, then select a value type.
- Lists use Add item and Remove item. Object items and nested lists have their own field controls.
- Add field below the declared inputs adds an ad-hoc input. It can hold text, numbers, Booleans, objects, lists, or an empty value.
You can build nested test data without typing JSON. JSON remains an optional advanced view. Switching views and loading saved inputs preserve the types of both declared and ad-hoc values.
Use Saved test inputs to keep named examples. Enter a name and click Save, then choose the example later to load it. Saved examples are shared with other users in the workflow's tenant.
For a single routing check, select a Decision node and use Test decision. Its visual form also accepts variables and sample results from earlier nodes. That preview evaluates only the Decision; use the workflow Tester to check connected steps and final outputs.
Execution history¶
In run history, run details and the Test panel, Started shows Pending until the workflow enters its first useful step. Duration stays blank while queued. Submission and queueing are not start times.
Open Activity → Execution History in the workflow header. The table includes runs across published versions and drafts, with their status, version, start time, node count and duration. Draft identifies a draft run.
Select a row, or focus it and press Enter, to open the run's summary and node timeline inside the same modal. Expand a node to inspect its inputs, outputs and errors, including individual For Each iterations. All runs returns to the same list position. Existing links to a run also open this modal on the canvas.
The list and run details update automatically while visible. There is no Live switch, refresh button or “updated ago” label. Observed provider cost is currently hidden from run details.
