Assistant Agent skills

Assistant Agent stages use Skills as their main capability picker. A skill tells the selected Assistant Agent runtime when to use a capability, which tools are relevant, and what small resources should be placed in the temporary workspace for the turn.

Skill types

Type Use it for Where it lives
Library Skill A reusable capability such as Call Center Analytics, Customer Lookup, or Executive KPI Summary. The tenant skill library.
Inline Skill One-off behavior that belongs only to this Assistant Agent node. The node's inline_skills config.

Inline skills can be edited without changing the library. When an inline skill becomes useful elsewhere, choose Save to library and TrueServe replaces it with a selected library skill.

Build a skill

  1. Add or select a chat agent's Assistant Agent node.
  2. Choose Google / Antigravity, OpenAI / Codex, or Anthropic / Claude Code.
  3. Open the node's Prompt tab.
  4. In Skills, select reusable Library Skills or choose Create Inline Skill.
  5. Use the builder tabs:
Tab What to configure
Overview Name and description.
Instructions When the skill applies and how the agent should use it.
Tools Governed TrueServe tools, MCP-backed tools, and skill-local inline Python/API tools.
Resources Small text, markdown, or JSON files the agent can inspect. Each resource's Content uses the same rich editor as prompts, with markdown preview for markdown files.
Approvals Skill approval metadata for future policy expansion.
Preview The generated SKILL.md package before runtime.

Runtime behavior

At chat time, TrueServe compiles selected library skills and inline skills into workspace skill packages. The selected Assistant Agent runner receives SKILL.md packages plus workspace guidance files.

Shared MCP, API, Python, workflow, and A2UI tools selected inside a skill execute through the existing governed TrueServe tool bridge. Skill-local inline Python/API tools use the same editor and runtime path as normal inline tools on an agent stage, but they are stored with the skill instead of in the shared Tools section. Native CLI-side MCP execution is reserved for the session-scoped TrueServe MCP gateway.

The Assistant Agent workspace is temporary. Internal skill files are hidden from artifact summaries, while files the agent creates for the user are shown as workspace artifacts.

Legacy direct tool selections are kept for saved nodes, but new Assistant Agent nodes should use skills so the agent receives clear instructions, tool context, and resource files together.
